Time. 24 Hours is 60 Minutes Doesn’t Make Sense.

Arg, I hate our time and measurement systems! They are frustratingly annoying and stupid. I also think our language is stupid, but today’s rant is going to be about our time system.

First months. Are these necessary? They are arbitrary at this point. They don’t align well with the moon, the days per month is random, and it is confusing. First, the only number that probably should stay is 364 (or 365 :>) because that aligns with something in nature.  The rest of the dates are dumb. Let’s just go by numbers. Then everything is easy….let’s meet on day 100, day 300…it’s easy! Weeks can still be in sevens if we want, but really that’s random…How about 5 day weeks? It’s easy and straight forward!

And then there’s the clock! 24 hours! What the…? Why would we do this to ourselves? And minutes and hours and seconds!? Why!? Why!? Why!?  I’ve taking 5 levels of calculus and I still have to use my fingers to figure out the time 4 hours from morning to afternoon…9, 10,11, 12, 1. And 60 minutes in an hour? Whatever the original reason for doing that is dumb.

I propose breaking the day into 10 hours because working with 10s is easy. Midnight is zero (does midnight have to be the start? Couldn’t zero be near dawn?-anyway, we’ll keep it a midnight) And we wake up around 3 to 3.5 hours. That’s easy. And we go to bed around 8 or 9. And we can then use decimals to eliminate the stupid concept of hours and minutes. What time is it? 435. Need more accurate? 435.12. Easy!

Converting between our current system and this new system would be hard though.

Anyway, time for lunch.
